Abstract
This article defines John Yoder's eschatology as PostConstantinianism and critically examines the debate surrounding Constantinianism. To this end, the Christendom, which began with the edict of Milan by Constantine the Great, reveals that it is not a realization of the end, but distortion and deterioration of it. Constantinianism is just a human attempt to advance the eschaton of violence without Christ. Peter J. Leithart advocates that Constantine has practiced peace and tolerance, and Lesslie Newbigin defends that the Constantinian system must be historically acknowledged. Leithart's argument is only a criticism that missed the target in that Yoder criticizes against Constantinianism, not against an individual, and Newbigin tries to do a rather uncompromising compromise in that he fails to more thoroughly criticize Constantinianism, which is the root of the problem. Yoder's post-Constantinianism presents criticism and alternatives to the Korean church, which tends to have Constantinian political participation.
