Documentary is a discursive formation, presenting first-hand experience and fact by creating a rhetoric of immediacy and ‘truth’, using photographic technology. Documentary is also recognized as being a very engaged sort of film. <Border City> & <Border City 2> were about prof Song Doo-Ul, who had denied entry into Seoul Korea for 37 years and Seoul Korea which has been a dogmatic society. These have the ‘two-track’s strategy for the story-telling. One was about the professor and the other was situation of filmmaking. The strategy for storytelling was in turn strive for the balance of subjectivity and objectivity and, in the exact distinction between reality and the truth. <Border City> & <Border City 2> tried to represent ‘truth’ in that silly situation. I applaud this achievement despite of poor Koreans Independent documentary production situation.
