집단 트라우마의 사회적 애도 치유를 위한 영화적 접근 - <지슬>과 <비념>의 분석을 중심으로

본 연구는 4.3사건이라는 집단 트라우마의 경험을 소재로 제작된 극영화 <지슬>과 다큐멘터리 <비념>이 어떻게 아직 치유되지 못한 역사적 상흔을 재현 혹은 서사화하고자 했는지를 분석한다. 이를 통해 두 영화 모두가 적대를 그려나가는 방식에서 실재와의 만남(tuche!)을 회피하는 형식주의적 태도 속에서 ‘숭고의 미학’에 빠졌다는 것, 나아가 성급히 애도와 치유의 가능성을 확립하고자 했음을 지적한다. 이는 4.3사건을 대하는 한국사회의 징후(증상)와도 같은 맥락에 있다. 4.3사건의 역사화 과정에서 모든 책임을 미군정을 포함하는 혹은 배제하는 국가폭력으로만 돌려버리는 것은 사회적, 윤리적 애도 치유의 방향으로는 불충분하기 때문이다. 따라서 본 연구는 집단 트라우마의 치유를 위해 도입되어야 할 문화정치적 망각의 윤리학을 확립하고 두 번의 부정을 통한 애도의 가능성을 타진한다.
Abstract
This study analyzes how the fiction film Jiseul and the documentary Jeju Prayer attempt to represent historical wounds from the collective trauma of the Jeju 4.3 Incident. Both films fall into the aesthetics of the sublime with a formalistic inclination, avoiding a tuche with the Real by way of portraying hostility and urgently introducing the possibility of mourning and healing. This attitude or symptom is similar to that of Korean society when dealing with the 4.3 Incident. When historicizing the massacre, it is not appropriate to attribute all responsibility to state violence, including or excluding the US military government, in terms of social and ethical mourning or recovery. Therefore, this study attempts to establish the ethics of cultural- political oblivion and examines the possibility of mourning through the two negations.
