Abstract
While gifted education is implemented at the national level, gifted students in the arts, particularly in traditional Korean music, are relatively recent additions. Consequently, existing research on gifted traditional Korean music primarily focuses on defining giftedness, identifying traits of giftedness, and examining the educational systems supporting these students. However, this paper presents an ethnographic study that explores the learning and development processes of gifted traditional Korean music students through their actual experiences. By analyzing the musical learning and growth of these students, this study explores the performances of the Gifted Traditional Korean Music Concert, which is held every Sunday at the Crown Haitai Hall in Namsan Gugakdang, Seoul. It examines how students acquire the skills needed to become professional performers through their stage experiences.
