뇌기반 기독교교육을 위한 철학적 기초 ―심신상관론을 중심으로

최근 들어 몸(뇌)과 마음의 관계에 대한 논의가 활발하다. 심리철학은 동일론, 기능주의, 제거적 유물론이 주류를 형성한다. 심리학은 행동주의를 탈피해서 신경학과 연계된 연구에 집중한다. 영상진단장치로심신상관 문제에 접근하는 신경과학은 뇌 영역을 지도화하거나 뇌의각 부위들이 수행하는 기능에 집중한다. 인지과학은 마음의 처리과정을이해하려고 다학제적 접근을 한다. 기독교교육학이 심신상관론에 관심을 가져야 할 이유는 이원론을 극복하고 전인 교육에 필요한 근거를확보할 수 있기 때문이다. 인지 및 신경생리학적 메커니즘을 강조하는뇌기반 기독교교육의 연구와 적용에도 유용하다. 인식론의 차원에서학습자에게 적합한 지식의 종류를 확인하고 체계적으로 제공할 뿐 아니라 신학이 천착하는 인간론에 대한 관심을 환기시키고 학습자를 이해하는데 유용한 정보를 확보할 수 있다. 이 글의 목적은 다양한 심신상관론을 개괄해서 뇌기반 기독교교육의 철학적 기초를 확보하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 심신동일론과 심신이원론, 창발론의 주장을 검토하고, 신학적관점에서 풀러 그룹의 비환원적 물리주의를 하향적 인과성, 약 수반,종교적 경험이라는 개념들을 중심으로 살펴본다. 끝으로, 기독교교육을위한 비환원적 물리주의의 시사점을 확인하는 것으로 결론을 맺는다.
Abstract
The mind−body problem has recently received a lot of attention. In the theory of mind, the major debate concerns the question of which materialist theory of the human mind, if any, is the correct one. The main theories are identity theory(also called reductive materialism), functionalism, and eliminative materialism. Psychology begins to merge to combine how the mind learns with how the brain functions. Neuroscience collaborates with other fields such as computer science and engineering to map the brain function. The interdisciplinary study of the mind called cognitive science draws on neuroscience to chart how bundles of neurons create minds, psychology to illuminate how minds function. Current developments in the theories of mind−body allow for a new appreciation of the complexity and individuality with which human beings learn and grow. In this article, the theories of mind−body problem(psycho−physical identity theory, psycho−physical dualism,emergentism, nonreductive physicalism) are reviewed to examine some philosophical implications for brain−based Christian education.
