This study analyzed the degree of nominalization of Japanese adjective infinitive forms based on the grammatical and lexical characteristics of Japanese nouns. As a result, even if the infinitive form of an adjective was registered as a noun in the dictionary, there was a difference in grammatical and lexical characteristics from a typical noun. Also, among the infinitive forms of adjectives that were not previously registered as headwords in the same way, some various differences were found in the degree of nominalization. It is difficult to clearly distinguish the stages of the adjective infinitive forms by the degree of nominalization. Rather it was found that nominalization is proceeding in a continuous pattern.
Abstract
