국어교과와 연계한 인성교육이 학생의 인성발달에 미치는 효과

초록

이 연구의 목적은 인성교육의 이론에 기초하여 국어교과와 연계된 교육공간 체험 프로그램이 학생의 인성개발에 미치는 효과를 검증하는 것이다. 문헌연구를 통하여 인성교육과 관련된 이론이 탐색·종합되었으며, 이들 이론을 중심으로 국어과 ‘고전 읽기’와 연계된 인성교육을 위한 교수·학습 자료가 개발되었다. 다음으로 실험연구를 통하여 체험중심 인성교육을 위한 확장된 교육공간의 활용이 고등학생의 인성덕목 발달에 미치는 효과를 분석하였다. 연구대상은 2019학년도 제1학기에 경기도 G고등학교 2학년 학생 94명(실험집단: 48명, 통제집단: 46명)이었으며, 실험집단에는 확장된 교육공간을 활용한 국어교과 연계 인성교육 프로그램을 적용하였고, 통제집단에는 국어과 교과서에 수록된 고전 작품을 중심으로 읽기 수업을 진행하였다. 인성검사의 질문지는 ‘소통’, ‘존중·배려’, ‘협동’의 덕목을 측정하는 30문항으로 구성되었다. 효과검증은 독립표본 t검증으로 분석되었다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한 학기 동안의 국어과 진로 선택과목인 ‘고전 읽기’ 교과 시간에 인성교육을 연계한 수업을 위한 24차시 교수·학습과정안을 개발하였다. 둘째, ‘소통(t = 2.82 , p < .01)’, ‘존중·배려(t = 2.98, p < .01)’, ‘협동(t = 2.20, p < .05)’의 사전과 사후 점수에서 실험집단과 통제집단 간에는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있었다. 결론적으로 다양한 인물들의 삶을 활용한 ‘고전 읽기’와 확장된 교육공간을 연계한 인성교육은 고등학생의 ‘소통’, ‘존중·배려’, 그리고 ‘협동’의 인성덕목 개발에 효과적인 것으로 나타났다.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to verify the effects of character education with education space linked to the Korean language subject on student’s character development based on the theories and practices of character education. Firstly, the researchers designed and implemented the materials on teaching-learning activities for character education linked to classics reading in the Korean language classes at high school. Secondly, we analyzed the effects of character education on the development of high school students’ character virtues such as communication, respect/care, and cooperation in relation to classical reading class in Korean language classes with extended education space. The subjects of the study were 94 second graders (experimental group: 48, control group: 46) at G high school of Gyeonggi-do in the first semester of 2019. In the experimental group, we applied the character education program linked to Korean language classes utilizing the extended education space. On the other hand, in the control, we conducted the reading classes focused on the classical works in the Korean language textbooks. The questionnaire for character test consisted of 30 items measuring the core virtues of ‘communication’, ‘respect/consideration’, and ‘cooperation.’ The results of the study were as follows: Firstly, the researchers developed teaching and learning materials for 24 units that can be used during one semester for character education linked to ‘classical reading’ classes of Korean language subject. Secondly, there was a statically significant difference between the experimental and control group in the pre and post scores of virtues in ‘communication (t = 2.82, p < .01)’, ‘respect/care (t = 2.98, p < .01)’, and ‘cooperation (t = 2.20, p < .05)’ of high school students. In conclusion, experiential-oriented character education using the extended education space in ‘classical reading’ of Korean language subject has a positive effect on students’ development of character virtues such as communication, respect/consideration, and cooperation.
