Abstract
Soviet children's literature is a literary genre that was forcibly formed according to the aesthetic doctrine of socialist realism, representing a typical example where literature was compelled to follow a specific ideology, thus limiting the direction of culture. The state-controlled nationalism inherent in Soviet children's literature can be seen as a strategy to instill loyalty to the state and society in children within the ideological framework of socialism. The majority of children's literature created under state-controlled nationalism was based on realism, depicting an ideal socialist society while suppressing the critical view of reality. Within such a limited framework, could children's literature achieve literary achievements that contribute to the proper growth of children and, ultimately, the correct development of future generations? A proper cultural policy should be one that strategically and systematically supports the cultural development of society as a whole. The state-controlled nationalism implemented in Soviet children's literature was not a policy for Soviet children or society as a whole, but merely an instrumental means for the government to strengthen its control and influence over the people. Moreover, we have no choice but to express concern that such attempts are being revived even in contemporary capitalist Russia. The imposition of state-controlled nationalism through culture reminds us of the truth that, no matter how noble the vision may be, if it is not cultivated internally but imposed externally, it constitutes a serious violence.
