본 연구는 OECD 회원국을 중심으로 코브-더글라스(Cobb-Douglas) 생산함수모형을 활용하여 FDI의 유입과 4차산업혁명 관련 변수들이 고용의 증감과 같은 노동시장의 특성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 실증적으로 분석하는 것이 목적이다. 기존의 많은 논의는 4차산업혁명이 노동시장의 변화에 대한 가능성을 예측하는 데 집중하였다. 하지만, 이와 관련하여 국가적 단위에서 외자의 유치와 노동시장의 변화와 관련한 실증적 논의는 여전히 미비한 것으로 나타나고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 경제성장 모형을 활용하여, 외자와 같은 투자의 유치가 고용증감에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하였다. 주요 분석 결과, OECD 회원국에 대해서 FDI의 유입은 제조업부문을 중심으로 고용을 증가시키는 것으로 나타났으며, 노동의 유연성과 법적보호 수준과 같은 4차산업혁명의 핵심적인 요인들이 고용의 감소와 증가에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 하지만, 서비스업 부문에서는 투자의 유치가 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타나, 제조업과는 상이한 결과를 제시하고 있다. 이러한 분석 결과는 4차산업혁명시대에 대응하기 위한 FDI의 중요성과 노동시장의 동적 변화를 이해하고 함의를 도출하는데 기여할 것으로 기대한다.
Abstract
This study aims to empirically examine the influence of foreign direct investment (FDI) on employment across OECD member countries in the era of 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR). Despite the significance of these topics, limited research exists. A Cobb-Douglas production function model and panel regression are utilized for the analysis. The findings indicate that FDI significantly boosts employment only in the manufacturing sector. However, 4th Industrial Revolution aspects related to legal protection and labor market flexibility significantly impact employment, both positively and negatively, in all models. This research ultimately aids in understanding and tracking the dynamic shifts brought on by 4th Industrial Revolution.
