이 연구의 목적은 현대 리더십 연구에서 많이 논의되고 있는 두 가지 리더십, 즉 변혁적 리더십과 서번트 리더십이 전통적인 거래적 리더십과 비교하여 팔로워십에 각각 어떤 영향을 미치는지, 팔로워십은 장병들의 군생활 만족도에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 파악하는 것이다. 이 목적을 달성하기 위하여 부산 인근에 위치한 공군부대에 근무하는 238명의 장병들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하고, 공변량구조분석을 수행한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 변혁적 리더십은 팔로워십과 통계적으로 유의한 정(+)의 관계를 가진다. 둘째, 거래적 리더십과 서번트 리더십은 팔로워십과 통계적으로 유의한 관계가 없다. 셋째, 상기 세 가지 리더십 스타일 중 변혁적 리더십만 팔로워십과 직접적인 관련성이 있다. 넷째, 변혁적 리더십은 군생활 만족도에 대해 팔로워십을 통한 간접효과만 있는 반면, 서번트 리더십은 군생활 만족도에 대해 팔로워십과 관계없이 직접효과를 가진다. 마지막으로 팔로워십은 군생활 만족도에 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 연구의 결과와 한계점은 결론 부분에 기술하였다.

Abstract

In this sutdy, the influence of servant leadership as well as transformational and transactional leadership upon army life satisfaction via followership was investigated. More specifically, the degree of impacts of each leadership style on army life satisfaction were compared with each other. In order to achieve above objective, the questionnaire survey was conducted for 238 soldiers in the tactical airlift wing stationed in the vicinity of Busan. The main results of the statistical analysis for the usable 210 questionnaire are as follows : First, transformational leadership was found to have statistically significant positive relationship with followership. Second, transactional leadership appears to have statistically insignificant positive relationship with followership. Third, while servant leadership has no indirect influence on army life satisfaction via followership, it has statistically significant direct impact on army life satisfaction. Fourth, among above three leadership styles, transformational leadership seems to have the largest positive influence on followership. Lastly, followership was found to have statistically significant positive relationship with army life satisfaction. The implications and limitations are discussed in the conclusion.
