다중언어문화 한국어 학습자의 문식성 교육

초록

세계화와 현대 기술의 발달에 따라 낮아지고 있는 언어의 장벽과는 달리, 서로 다른 문화의 차이와 특수성은 더욱 강조되고 있다. 이에 따라 현대사회에서도 사람들의 상호 관계와 작용을 중시하는 상호문화라는 맥락에서의 언어문화 교육 필요성은 여전히 강조되고 있다. 이 글에서는 세계화와 다문화주의로 인해 확대되고 있는 다중언어문화 환경이라는 현실과 이와 같은 상황에서 언어문화를 학습할 수 있는 능력인 다중언어문화 문식성 교육의 실천에 대해 살펴보았다. 아울러 현대 사회의 기술 발달에 따라 새로운 소통 수단으로 등장한 멀티미디어 사용 능력으로 대표되는 미디어 문식성에 대해서 논의하였다. 특히 다중언어와 다문화 환경뿐만 아니라 미디어의 발전으로 인해 제기된 새로운 문식성의 개념을 살펴보았다. 또한 이러한 관점에서 이 글에서는 다중언어문화 환경의 학습자에게 필요한 문식력에 대해 논의하였고, 다중언어문화 교육의 미래를 전망하고자 하였다. Ⅱ장에서는 ‘뉴런던 그룹(New London Group)’이 제안한 다중문식성의 개념을 살펴보았는데, 이들은 다중문식성 개념을 교육에 적용하여 학생들이 일상생활에서 현대 사회의 다양한 언어와 문화적 차이와 미디어 기술의 영향을 협상할 수 있게 하는 것이 언어 사용의 핵심이라고 주장하였다. Ⅲ장에서는 다중언어문화 환경에서 한국어교육의 현황과 문제점을 살펴보았다. 특히 다중언어문화 문식성의 관점에서 문화적 문식성으로서 문학 문식성의 가능성을 제시하였으며, 외국어로서의 한국어교육의 영역을 확장할 수 있는 방안을 제안하였다. 마지막 장에서는 다중언어문화 교육의 관점에서 학습자, 학습 목적, 학습 내용, 학습 방법에 초점을 맞추어 외국어로서의 한국어교육의 현황과 과제를 살펴보았다.

Abstract

While globalization and the development of modern technology have decreased the barriers of language, they have emphasized cultural differences and particularities. Language and culture education in intercultural contexts are therefore necessary and deserve contemporary society’s attention. This article discusses the growing reality of multilanguage and multiculture due to globalization, as well as the theories and practices of literacy education, and learners’ ability to practice language and culture within this reality. It also discusses media literacy, represented by the use of multimedia as a new means of communication in the context of modern technological development. Furthermore, I examine the aspects of new literacy arising from new media development, as well as multilingual and multicultural environments. Based on this examination, this article argues that literacy is required for learners in multilingual and multicultural environments, and predicts the future of multilingual and multicultural literacy education. Chapter 2 explores the notion of multiliteracies based on the study of ‘The New London Group’. According to ‘The New London Group’, an application of the concept of multiliteracies to literacy education causes students to explore the diversity of language and culture as well as adopt the influence of media technology as a key to their daily language. Chapter 3 analyzes the current status and drawbacks of Korean language education as a foreign language, and proposes the prospect of literary literacy education from a multilingual and multicultural perspective. It also suggests a plan to expand the boundaries of Korean language education as a foreign language. The last chapter focuses on the current status and orientation of Korean language education as a foreign language, particularly in terms of learners, learning content, methods, and objectives.
