경험적 독자 연구로서의 문학교육학에 인지시학 도입의 쟁점과 가능성 - ‘문학적 경험’에 대한 이론화를 중심으로 -

본 연구는 경험적 독자 연구로서 문학교육의 이론 생성 및 축적의 필요성에 대한 문제의식하에 인지시학의 가능성에 착안하여 그 가능성과 쟁점을 모색함으로써 도입의 입론을 마련하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 인지시학이 인문학과 과학의 결합이라는 데에서 기인하는 본질적인 문제에 대해 쟁점을 탐구하였다. 우선 인지과학이 과학적 패러다임의 전환을 일으킨 과정을 살펴봄으로써 인지시학이 학습자의 문학적 경험으로서 실재하는 심리적 현상을 인과적 개념을 통해 보다 객관적으로 설명할 수 있다는 가능성을 도모하였다. 한편, 독자의 문학적 경험에 대해 엄격한 과학적 법칙을 따르는 설명을 제공할 수 없다는 것과, 표상 불가능한 인간의 사적 감각에 대한 설명이 가능하지 않다는 한계 지점을 파악해야 할 필요성이 있다는 점을 다루었다. 이와 동시에, 접근 의식 개념과 인지심리학의 자아 이론을 살펴봄으로써 비지향적 경험의 관찰 가능성과 표상적 경험의 교육적 의미를 모색하였다. 나아가 인지시학이 경험적 독자 연구로서의 문학교육의 이론 형성에 기여할 수 있는 가능성에 대해 범주화 이론을 문학교육의 정서 논의에 적용함으로써 모색하였다. 이 연구는 문학교육의 본질인 학습자의 문학적 경험을 관찰하고 설명하는 데 있어 인지시학이 하나의 방법으로 기여할 수 있는 가능성과 그 쟁점들을 이론의 근본적인 차원에서 다루어 논의의 토대를 마련하였다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다.
Abstract
This study explores the possibility of adopting cognitive poetics to contribute to the creation and accumulation of theories in literature education as an empirical reader research. Accordingly, the fundamental issues arising from the adoption of cognitive science to literature education were explored. At first, by exploring the process in which cognitive science caused a shift in the scientific paradigm, the feasibility that cognitive poetics could more objectively and causally explain 'literary experience' as a psychological phenomena was sought. Meanwhile, the limitations in explaining reader's literary experience through strict scientific laws and human private sensation has been addressed. Moreover, the practical dimension of the theory application was prepared employing the concept of access consciousness and self-theory. Subsequently, the possibility that cognitive poetics can contribute to the formation of the theory of literature education as an empirical research has been observed. This study examined the challenges in adopting cognitive poetics in a direction that can contribute to the work of consistent explanation and theorization of learners' literary experiences, the essence of literature education that has been advocated for a learner-centered perspective.
