Abstract
This study intends to examine the Andean collective memory about the ‘conquest’ by the medium of the theater <Tragedia del fin de Atawallpa>. Andean people have presented the theaters about the death of Incas from the early colonial period and in those theaters they have modified and mythicized the history, and in the long run they have transformed it into Andean Messianism. <Tragedia del fin de Atawallpa> contains the dreams and omens about ‘conquest’, the cultural embarrassment at letters and paper, the decapitation of Atawallpa and resultant beginning of the sufferings and unfortunate. But the last episode depicts ahistorical situation, the execution of Pizarro by Spanish King, and this expresses the process to Andean Messianism. In these series of processes, that theater implicates diverse myths, legends and folklore, therefore the theater is the result of Andean collective consciousness.
