장애아전문어린이집의 특수교사와 치료사의 협력 경험

본 연구는 장애아전문어린이집에서 특수교사와 치료사가 어떻게 협력하고 있는지, 협력 수행에서 나타나는갈등과 어려움은 무엇인지에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 장애아전문어린이집에서 1년이상 협력을실행하고 있는 특수교사와 치료사를 한 쌍으로 3쌍, 총6명을 연구참여자로 선정하여 개별 면담을 실시하였다. 면담 자료는 질적 분석 방법을 사용하여 분석하였으며, 다음과 같은 결과가 나타났다. 장애아전문어린이집의특수교사와 치료사는 장애영유아에게 교육과 치료를제공하기 위하여 일과 중 수시로 장애영유아에 관한대화를 나누거나 정기적인 팀 사례회의를 통해 공동의목표를 세우고, 이러한 공동 목표의 실현하기 위해 서로의 전문영역을 공유하고 있었다. 하지만 이러한 협력의 과정 중에 특수교사와 치료사는 어려움을 느끼고있었는데, 특수교사와 치료사가 각자 자신의 입장만 고집해서 생기는 갈등이 있기도 하였고, 서로 관계의 어려움이 나타나기도 하였다. 또한 협력으로 인해 새롭게발생된 역할에 대해 정체성 혼란을 경험하기도 하였다. 이러한 어려움 속에서도 장애아전문어린이집의 특수교사와 치료사는 보다 나은 협력이 이루어지기 위해서협력을 위한 태도의 함양과 충분히 협력할 수 있는 시간, 그리고 서로 동등한 위치에서 대우를 받을 수 있는협력 환경에 대한 기대를 가지고 있었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로, 앞으로 장애아전문어린이집에서 특수교사와 치료사 간 협력이 어떻게 이루어져야 하는지에 대해 논의하였다.
Abstract
This study investigated how special education teachers and therapists cooperate in specialized child care centers and identified conflicts and difficulties which occurred in the process of their cooperation. The participants of this study consisted of three pairs composed of one special education teacher and one therapist of specialized child care centers for young children with disabilities. Data for this study was collected through individual interviews with each participant and was analyzed using the qualitative analysis method. The results of this study were as follows. The special education teachers and therapists in specialized child care centers communicated frequently about the young children with disabilities under their care in order to provide education and therapy by establishing common goals through regular team meetings and by sharing their specialized knowledge to achieve these goals. However, the special education teachers and therapists experienced difficulties in their cooperation based on the stubbornness of their positions and concerns of not offending the other’s feelings. Furthermore, they experienced identity confusion stemming from their new roles resulting from their cooperation. In spite of these difficulties, both the special education teachers and therapists showed a desire to develop a better attitude towards cooperation, to create enough time for collaborative meetings, and to foster an environment where treating each other as equals. Based on the results of this study, there is a need for further discussions regarding the cooperation between special education teachers and therapists in specialized child care.
