이 연구는 전공 및 계열을 불문하고 대학 신입생들이 느끼는 쓰기에 대한 불안 실태와 요인을 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위하여 ‘사고와표현’을 수강하는 157명을 대상으로 Daly & Miller(1975)가 개발한 쓰기 불안 검사 도구 WAT의 번역자료인 최숙기(2011)를 토대로 쓰기 불안 조사를 실시하고 결과를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 여학생이 남학생에 비해 더 높은 쓰기불안을 느끼며, 쓰기 효능감과 같은 인지적 요인이 신입생들의 쓰기불안을 가중시킨다는 결론을 얻었다. 특히 쓰기가 평가 대상이라는 자체에 높은 불안을 보인 것 또한 주목할 만한 결과이다. 학생 필자들의 실제적인 쓰기 능력 향상을 위해 쓰기교육 담당 교수자들은 통합적으로 접근해야 하며, 학생들의 쓰기불안 현상을 기민하게 받아들이고 유연하게 대처하도록 노력할 필요가 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the current situation and factors of apprehension about writing felt by college freshmen regardless of their major or department. To this end, we conducted a writing apprehension survey based on Choi Seung-gi (2011), a translation material of the writing apprehension inspection tool WAT developed by Daly & Miller (1975), targeting 157 college freshmen who took “thought and expression”. The results were analyzed. As a result, it was concluded that female students felt higher writing apprehension than male students, and that cognitive factors such as writing efficacy aggravated the writing apprehension of new students. In particular, it is noteworthy that the writing showed high apprehension about being evaluated. In order to improve the practical writing ability of the students' writers, the professors in charge of writing education must approach in an integrated manner, and strive to be sensitive to the students' writing apprehension phenomenon and to deal flexibly.
