본 연구는 외국의 초등학교 음악과와 미술과의 특징과 편제를 살펴보고, 음악과와 미술과 교육과정을 분석함으로써, 향후 우리나라 초등학교 저학년 교육과정 개정을 위한 시사점을 추출해 보는 데 목적을 두고 수행되었다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 외국의 음악과와 미술과 교육과정의 특징과 편제, 편성․운영, 성격 및 목표, 내용, 교수․학습 및 평가를 살펴보았다. 연구 방법은 내용분석 연구법을 기용하였으며, 대상은 일본, 미국, 영국, 프랑스, 독일, 핀란드의 초등학교 저학년 음악과와 미술과 교육과정이었다. 연구 결과, 음악과 미술과의 통합 교과명으로 즐거운 생활과 적절, 음악과 미술, 그리고 유관한 교과와의 통합 운영 바람직, 초등학교 저학년 음악과와 미술과 교육의 궁극적인 목적을 전인적 발달 및 고등사고력에 둘 것, 국가 교육과정의 교수․학습 방법 및 평가의 구체화 정도에 대한 심도 있는 검토, 국가 교육과정의 대강화와 자율화 지향 등을 논의하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the implications for curriculum change for lower graders in elementary schools in Korea in the future, analyzing the characteristics and formation of the Music and the Arts curriculum in foreign elementary schools. To attain the goal, this study analyzed the characteristics, organization, management, operation, nature, objectives, contents, teaching and learning, and evaluation of the Music and the Arts curriculum in foreign elementary schools. Content analysis was used in this study and the target for this study was the Music and the Arts curriculum for lower graders in elementary schools in Japan, the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Finland. The study results are as follows: The subject, "The Pleasant Life" would be appropriate for an integrated subject of the Music and the Arts. Related subjects can be integrated with the Music and the Arts. The eventual goals of the Music and the Arts curriculum for lower graders in elementary schools should be to cultivate the whole person and higher-order thinking skills. Teaching and learning methods, and the degree of actualizing evaluation should be analyzed in depth within the framework of the national curriculum. The format and the content of the national curriculum should be liberalized.
