본 연구에서는 학생의 경험세계를 기반으로 해 온 현행 통합교과 교육과정을 향후 어떻게 발전시켜서 개발해야 하는지를 논의하였다. 이를 위해서 한편으로는 교육과정(학) 연구 분야에서 학생의 삶에 관심을 가져 온 아이디어들을 개관하고, 다른 한편으로는 사례(Stratemeyer et. al.(1947)의 학생의 삶을 위한 교육과정 개발’)를 통해서 학생의 삶을 위한 교육과정이 어떤 것인지를 이해해 보았다. 연구 결과, 첫째, ‘교육과정을 개발할 때 삶을 반영하자는 이 아이디어는 학교교육의 단계에 대한 연구들, 학생 경험에 대한 연구들, 활동 중심 교육과정 개발 연구들을 중심으로 등장․발전해 왔음을 확인하였다. 둘째, Stratemeyer 등의 삶을 위한 교육과정은 ① 학생이 삶 중에서 실제로 만나는 문제를 전제로 하며, 따라서 학생이 살 사회와 학생 살고 있는 생활 세계라는 삶을 원천하며, ② 영속적인 상황과 그 상황에서의 일상적인 활동을 내용 체계 및 내용으로 하며, ③ 이에 교육과정은 학생이 학교에서 생활하는 자연스러운 모습을 띤다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이런 점에서 향후 통합교과 교육과정은 ‘생활중심’을 넘어서, ‘생활로서’ 교육과정을 개발해야 한다는 점을 시사 받을 수 있었다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to discuss whether it is possible to develop integrated subjects curriculum as learner’s life for elementary school students at the national level. To achieve this, I surveyed the history of intending the above idea in the field of curriculum study. And I reviewed Stratemeyer and other’s the child-study(1947) as a case. As a result, first, it was confirmed that this idea was developed from emergence of three subsequent factors; the study of educational development, the study of curriculum as experience, the study of curriculum as activities. Secondly, it was reviewed a this case(the developing curriculum for learner by Stratemeyer et. al). And so it wad understanded the suppositions and orientation, the framework and the contents of curriculum, and curriculum implementation of 5th Grade. From the result of this study, it was suggested that the national curriculum development of integrated subjects for elementary School Student can be developed a not only the curriculum centered learner’s life but also the curriculum as learner’s life.
