This paper aims to discuss the rhetorical features of Chinese through the concept of ‘wen文’. We need to research wen文 extensively, because Chinese rhetoric has thus far been studied only within confined realms such as composition skill or literature discipline writing, and through the meaning of ‘Narrow Rhetoric’, was translated as xiuci修辭. Having a vastly different social and political background as well as historical experience, Chinese rhetoric has developed and extended uniquely. The present research on the historical interpretations of the term wen文 can help provide a better understanding of Chinese rhetoric in a broad sense including its diverse style and expression of communication.
