본고는 이야기의 생명성을 화두로 인공지능 시대에 과열화되는 재현주의 서사의 본성적 한계와 그 타개책을 고찰하는 논문이다. 재현주의 서사의근원적 한계를 적시하기 위해 2장에서는 재현주의라는 개념의 문제점을 고찰한다. 실체와의 미묘한 관계를 상정할 때 개념적 가치를 가지는 ‘재현’이실재의 자리를 박탈한 채 실재와의 정합성을 주장하는 역설적 개념인 ‘재현주의’로 변질되어 온 흐름 속에서 발생한 문제가 무엇인지 고찰한다. 2장의논의를 거치며 중요해지는 것은 르네상스기 이후 인공지능 시대에 이르기까지 재현주의 프레임이 점차 내면화되어 왔다는 사실이다. 르네상스기에는 보편 획일적인 문법으로 위세를 자랑하던 프레임이 산업자본주의 시대 이후에는 수용자의 욕망과 공모하여 은밀한 쾌락 논리로 내면화되고, 현시대에는 ‘자아’라는 몰입적인 가상감으로 한층 더 내면화된다. 3장에서는 이야기의 생명성을 논하기 위해 점차 내면화되어 온 재현주의프레임을 현시하는 방법론을 찾는다. 재현주의는 프레임 내부에서만 성립되는 논리인 만큼 그 한계는 프레임 바깥 자리로 이동하는 움직임으로부터드러난다. 그런데 시대의 흐름에 따라 그 은폐성이 고도화된 만큼 이 프레임을 파열시키는 움직임의 강도는 그에 비례하여 강력해져야 한다. 인공지능 시대의 재현주의 프레임은 타자를 소거한 ‘자아’라는 가상 영역에서 구축되는 만큼 오로지 자신의 몸이라는 가장 직접적이고도 실제적인 자리에서의 움직임으로부터 깨트려질 수 있다.
Abstract
This thesis examines the intrinsic limitations of representational narratives, which are becoming increasingly heated in the age of AI, through the lens of the vitality of storytelling. To elucidate the fundamental limitations of representationalism, Chapter 2 investigates the paradoxical transformation of representation into representationalism — a concept that, while asserting coherence with the real, has deprived reality of its position. Through the discussion in Chapter 2, a critical realization emerges: the representational frame has gradually become less visible and more internalized from the Renaissance period to the AI era. Chapter 3 seeks to identify methodologies that that presents the representationalist frame that has been gradually internalized. Since representationalism is a logic that exists solely within its internal frame, the methodology for revealing its limitations arises from movements that transcend the frame. Unlike traditional representationalism, in the age of AI, where the self constructs a virtual realm that excludes the others, this frame can only be shattered from the most direct and tangible position of one's own body.
