Abstract

This study explores the process of self-reflection and worldview reconstruction through existential philosophical counseling based on empathic engagement with drama narratives. Using a qualitative case study method, six sessions of counseling were conducted by integrating drama viewing and existential inquiry for three fictional female participants in their 30s. Throughout the counseling process, participants projected their existential issues (e.g., loneliness, death, failure) onto drama characters and engaged in self-reflective exploration through existential questioning. Analysis revealed that participants deconstructed their initial worldviews—such as "pain is destructive," "failure is final," and "loneliness means rejection"—and reconstructed these experiences with new meanings. This study offers methodological implications for linking drama media with philosophical counseling practices and suggests the practical applicability of drama-based empathic counseling interventions.
