유사신앙으로 나타나는 사람들의 심리는 무엇일까? 신경증의 원인은 무엇일까? 유사신앙과 신경증은 어떤 관계가 있을까? 신경증적인 형태를 띠는 유사신앙인을 어떻게 이해할 것인가? 영혼의 돌봄(care of souls)을 목적으로 하는 교회와 기독교상담가는 이들을 어떻게 도울 수 있을까? 본 소고는 이러한 질문들을 염두에 두면서 유사신앙 형태를 띄는 신앙인들, 특히 신경증의 형태로 나타나는 신앙인들의 심리이해와 그들을 어떻게 치료해야 할 것인가에 대한 논의를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 신경증의 원인으로는 첫째, 어린 시절의 부정적 경험을 들 수 있는데, 이유는 아이들이 어른보다 훨씬 더 예민하고, 좋지 않은 것들이 아이들의 정신에 영향을 훨씬 더 잘 미치기 때문이다. 둘째, 비록 성인이라 할지라도 충격적인 경험이나 잘못된 교육이 신경증을 유발할 수 있다는 점을 지적하였다. 좋지 않은 경험이나 잘못된 교육내용은 사람들에게 신경증을 일으키게 하는 바탕을 마련해 주기 때문이다. 셋째, 자신들이 경험한 것들에 대해서 내면적으로 어떤 태도를 가지고 있는가 하는 점에 따라 신경증을 유발할 수 있다는 점을 강조했다. 이는 기독교인도 예외가 아니어서, 신경증적 유사신앙인들에게 불안은 때때로 특별한 형태를 띠고 나타난다는 점을 살펴보았다. 특히 기독교적 형태로 나타나는 신경증의 다양한 사례를 제시하고 분석하였다. 신경증적인 형태를 띠는 유사신앙인을 치유하는데 첫 번째 과제는 내담자의 불안을 일으키는 원인을 파악하게 해주는 것이라고 지적하였다. 두 번째 과제로 또한 그들을 지지하고 고통을 인내하고 극복할 수 있는 희망과 용기를 북돋워주는 과정이 필요하다고 주장하였다. 마지막으로 거기에다가 건강한 기독교신앙과 기독교적 돌봄이 필요하다고 보았다. 더 나아가 그들을 돌보고 치유하기 위해 신앙공동체의 이해와 사랑을 강조하였다.
Abstract
What would be the psychology of the ones shown as having pseudo-belief? What would the causes of neurosis? How would Pseudo-belief be related to neurosis, and how could we understand pseudo-belief in a form of neurosis? How could both the churches and the Christian counselors seeking the care of souls help those ones having pseudo-belief in the form of neurosis? Remembering these questions, this article concentrates on the discussion how to understand the psychology of those with pseudo-belief, especially in a form of neurosis and how to provide a cure for them. The first cause of neurosis would be the negative experiences, especially which children might be more sensitive to and thus their mentalities could be better affected by. It is regarded that traumatic experience or inappropriate education is the second cause, especially for adults. The third cause arousing neurosis would be an attitude about how to internalize their experiences. It is not exceptional even for Christians, for it is observed that anxieties of those having neurotic pseudo-belief sometimes have been appearing in some certain forms. Thus this article suggests and analyzes the various cases of neurosis in Christian style. To cure the ones with the neurotic pseudo-belief, it is suggested that the first task is to comprehend the causes arousing anxieties of the clients and the second is to take a process encouraging and supporting the clients to endure and overcome their sufferings. Lastly it is proposed that healthy Christian faith and Christian counseling are necessary. Furthermore, love and understanding of the community are emphasized to take care of and cure them.
