한국개신교에서 종교개혁 성만찬 신학의 의미와 현주소

501년 전, 중세 로마 가톨릭 신앙에 맞선 종교개혁의 물결은 ‘이신칭의’의 새로운 신학적 조명 가운데 기독교 역사의 새로운 장을 열었지만, 루터와 츠빙글리, 칼빈의 성만찬 신학은 개신교 갈등과 분열의 원인이 되었다. 루터가 주장하는 그리스도의 신체적 현존과 편재성，츠빙글리가 주장하는 상징설, 칼빈이 말하는 영적 임재설은 개신교 내에서 각기 자신들의 추종자들과 자신들의 정체성을 위한 도구로 전락되고 말았다. 이를 극복하고자 하는 일렬의 노력이 시도되었지만, 상이한 성만찬 신학은 합의에 도달하지 못하였고, 오히려 서로의 한계선을 더욱 명확하게 하는 신조들이 발표되었다. 이에 반해 한국개신교의 성만찬 신학은 초기 한국선교 때부터 갈등의 요소로 작용되지 않았다. 이는 성만찬을 중요시하지 않았던 청교도식 예배서 사용과 성만찬에 대한 목회자와 평신도의 낮은 이해도, 불신자들을 위한 집회방식 예배 등은 성찬 신학의 활성화를 느리게 한 요인이라 볼 수 있다. 그리고 한국개신교 초기 문서에 나타난 성만찬 신학은 그리스도의 임재나 편재성에 대한 신학적 해석이 심화되지 않았던 모습이었다. 현재 한국개신교 각 교단들의 성만찬 신학은 초기 한국개신교의 성찬신학 보다는 더 보완되고 다양한 요소들을 가지고 있다. 그러나 그 다양한 성찬 신학적 요소들이 초기 한국개신교의 상황과 같이 각 교파들 간에 갈등과 분열의 모습으로 나타나지 않았다. 한국개신교 성만찬 신학에서 성찬의 떡과 잔에 관련된 신학적 해석은 미미하였지만, 반가톨릭적 성만찬 신학이라는 점에서, 그리고 성찬의 과거성, 현재성, 미래성의 관점에서 많은 공통분모를 지니며 발전하고 있다. 앞으로 한국개신교의 성만찬 신학의 발전은 종교개혁 개신교 성만찬 신학의 역사와 같이 자신들의 정체성을 확립하고 추종자들을 끌어 모으는 수단이 되지 않도록, 그 본질적인 면에서 연합을 이루어 성찬 안에서의 은혜의 풍성함을 경험하는 방향으로 나아가야 한다.
Abstract
501 years ago, the wave of the Reformation against the medieval Roman Catholicism opened a new chapter in the history of Christianity through the new theological illumination of Justification by faith. But the Eucharisitc theology by Martin Luther, Ulrich Zwingli and John Calvin became the cause of conflict and division of Protestantism. The physical presence and ubiquity of Christ in the Eucharist by Luther, the symbolism by Zwingli and the spiritual presence of Christ by Calvin became a tools to create their followers and to establish their identity. Although there was a series of efforts to overcame this, different Eucharistic theologies did not reach consensus, and rather, only statement clarifying the limits of each other were published. On the contrary, the theology of Eucharist in Korean Protestantism did not act as an element of conflict since the early Korean mission. The use of the Puritan style worship, which did not emphasize the Lord's Supper, and the deficient understanding of the pastor and layman for the Lord's Supper and the Evangelism revival meeting for the unbelievers were factors, that make the activation of sacramental theology slow. And the theology of the Eucharist in the early Protestant church of Korea was a theology that did not intensify the theological interpretation of Christ's presence or ubiquity. The theology of Eucharist in Korean Protestantism now has more complementary and diverse elements than those shown in early sacramental theology. However, the various sacramental theological factors did not appear as conflicts and divisions among the various denominations as in the early Korean Protestant church. Although the theological interpretation of the sacramental bread and cups in Korean Protestant Eucharistic theology is marginal, it is developing with many common denominators in terms of anti-Catholic Eucharistic theology and in the perspective of the past, present, and future. In the future, the theology of Eucharist in Korean Protestantism should move toward experiencing the abundance of grace in the Eucharist over unity in its essential aspect, unlike the history of protestant Eucharistic theology in the Reformation, when it became a mean of establishing one's identity and attracting followers.
