Abstract
This study compared and analyzed the multiplier decomposition effects of the automobile industries among Korea, China, and Japan using the 2010 and 2014 world input-output table, respectively. The world input-output table consists of 28 EU nations and other countries, combining total 43 countries and 56 industrial sectors with 2,408x2,408 intermediated transaction matrices. In this study, for convenience of the analysis, the table was re-categorized into four countries of Korea, China, Japan, and other countries, and 38 industrial sectors with 152x152 intermediated transaction matrices. As a result of the decomposing the multipliers of the automobile industries among Korea, China, and Japan, China showed the highest domestic multiplier effects with about 3.2 times in 2010, and about 3.4 times in 2014, respectively, and Japan showed about 2.7 times and 2.5 times, respectively, and then, Korea showed both a bout 2 .3 t imes, with t he l owest results. For the spillover effects of each country on the other countries, Korea had the highest in China in both 2010 and 2014, and China showed the highest in Japan in both years while Japan showed the highest in China in both the years. For the scale of spillover effect, Korea was higher than China or Japan, This trend is China has quite broad domestic market, using intermediated goods in the country a lot, while Korea has some importations from China or Japan. For the feedback effects, China was highest in 6.5 unit in 2010 and 5.5 unit in 2014, respectively, and then, Japan followed with 4.3 unit in 2010 and 3.1 unit in 2014 and Korea showed 3.3 unit in 2010, and 3.8 unit in 2014, respectively. This means that the value chains of the automobile industries were high in the inter-industrial links with China and Japan while Korea had weak links with China or Japan. Korea should study intermediate transactions and added value chains, raise competitiveness in automobile part industries in order to make an effort to double multiplier, spillover, and feedback effects in domestic area.
