오늘날 지속적인 도시화로 인해 사람과 자연이 분리되는 문제가 나타나고 있다. 대도시에 거주한 사람들의 자연에 대한 접근성이 점차 줄어들고 있다. 이러한 문제는 사람들의 심리적, 신체적인 건강에도 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 본 연구는 ‘생명애’의 개념을 내포한 바이오필릭 디자인을 적용해 인간과 자연을 상호 연결했다. 이를 통해 개발 제품의 사용자에게 안정감과 평온함을 주고 최적의 편안함을 제공함으로써 플랜트 샵 서비스 디자인의 정서적 효과를 검증하고자 했다. 바이오필릭 디자인 요소에 관한 선행 연구를 검토하고, 플랜트 샵 서비스 디자인의 현황 및 특징을 분석했으며, 이를 바탕으로 바이오필릭 디자인을 간접적인 체험 적용 요소를 활용한 플랜트 모바일 애플리케이션을 개발했다. 바이오필릭 디자인의 간접체험 표현 요소와 바이오필리아 정서적 효과를 검증하기 위해 174명을 대상으로 온라인으로 설문 조사를 했고, SPSS 통계프로그램을 이용해 요인분석과 다중회귀분석을 했다. 연구 결과는 바이오필릭 디자인의 자연간접체험 표현 요소인 자연에 관련 이미지, 컬러, 소재는 정서적인 효과에 모두 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구는 바이오필릭 디자인을 활용한 플랜트 샵 서비스 디자인을 개발함으로써 바이오필리아 기반 디자인의 연구 범위의 확장 가능성을 보여준다. 이를 통해 본 연구에서는 사람과 사람, 사람과 자연이 상호 작용할 수 있는 사회를 새롭게 구축할 수 있는 근거 기반 디자인 인사이트를 제공한다.
Abstract
Urbanization has separated people and nature. This separation has been shown to affect people's psychological and physical health. This study investigates service design of an online plant shop incorporating biophilic design. Through interconnecting humans with nature, we explore the biophilia effects on the users’ affective responses to visual elements in service design: an indirect experience of natural elements. Various literature on biophilic design and biophilia effects were reviewed, and the characteristics of service design were analyzed. Based on previous studies, a mobile application for an online plant shop was developed by adopting the four steps of service design process. The online survey, which included a total of 174 participants, was conducted to evaluate the indirect experience of biophilic design. Affective responses were examined such as psychological comfort, concentration, attention, and fatigue reduction. Statistical data went through factor analysis, multiple regression analysis, and frequency analysis using SPSS. The results showed that the image, color, and shape related to nature, which are characteristics of the indirect experience of biophilic design, have a positive impact on the emotional effects of biophilia.
