시지각 기능 검사(TVPS-R)를 활용한 한국 아동의 시지각 발달 분석

본 연구는 시지각 기능 검사(TVPS-R) 결과를 바탕으로 한국 아동의 시지각 발달이 성별, 연령별, 지역별 차이를 보이는지 살펴보는데 목적이 있다. 연구 대상은 서울특별시, 경기도, 강원도, 전라남도에 거주하는 만 4세～만 12세 아동 620명으로, 남아 304명, 여아 316명이었다. Gardner의 시지각 기능 검사(TVPS-R)를 검사도구로 사용하였고, 시지각 기능 검사 점수의 성별, 연령별, 지역별 차이를 알아보았다. 그 결과 전체 연령에서 여아의 점수가 남아의 점수보다 다소 높게 나타났으나, 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보이지는 않았다. 연령에 따른 차이는 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 나타내었는데, 4～7세 사이에는 급격한 점수 증가를, 8세 이후에는 완만한 점수 증가를 보였다. 지역에 따른 차이는 읍면과 도시지역으로 나누어 검정한 결과 시각변별, 시각기억, 공간관계, 형태항상성, 순차기억, 도형배경, 시각통합 전 영역에서 도시지역 아동의 점수가 읍면지역 아동의 점수보다 다소 높게 나타났으나, 시각변별 영역에서만 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다. 또한 읍면, 중소도시, 대도시 지역 1개 반씩 표집 된 5학년을 대상으로 세 지역 간 차이를 검정한 결과 순차기억, 도형배경, 총점에서 읍면 지역과 대도시가 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze Korean children's visual perceptual skills. For the purpose, this study administered the tests to 620 children aged between 4 and 12 in South Korea. As a test instrument, TVPS-R was used. Based on the test results, this study analyzed the characteristics of Korean children's visual perceptual skills as follows. Sex differences in visual perceptual skills were not seen. Regional differences in visual perceptual skills were seen only in visual discrimination subtest. In age of 4～7, visual perceptual skills improved rapidly but in age of 8～11 improved gradually. Conclusions of this study are as follows: there are no sex differences in visual perceptual skills but regional differences in specific visual perceptual skills. Visual perceptual skills improve with age. In particular, visual perceptual skills develop greatly in preschool period.
