한국어 학습자의 그릿과 자기효능감이 한국어 능력에 미치는 영향 -태국인 한국어 학습자를 중심으로-

초록

본 연구에서는 태국인 한국어 학습자를 중심으로 이들의 그릿 및 자기효능감을 구성하는 요인을 살펴본 후, 각 개념이 하위요인이 한국어능력에 미치는 복합적인 영향 관계를 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위해태국 중 ․ 고 ․ 대학교에서 한국어를 배우는 학습자 295명을 대상으로 설문조사와 통계분석을 실시하고, 다음과 같은 결과를 확인하였다. 첫째, 한국어 학습자의 그릿을 구성하는 하위요인은 관심유지와 노력지속의 2요인으로 확인되었고, 자기효능감의 하위요인은 과제난이도선호, 자기조절효능감, 자신감의 3요인으로 추출되었다. 둘째, 한국어 학습자의 그릿과 자기효능감을 구성하는 각 하위요인은 학력 ․ 학년에따라 차이를 보였다. 특히 하위요인의 대부분은 대학생 집단에서 높은 수준을 보였다. 셋째, 한국어 학습자의 그릿, 자기효능감, 한국어 능력사이에는 다양한 영향 관계가 확인되었다. 먼저 그릿의 노력지속은 한국어 능력에 유의미한 영향력을 미쳤으나 관심유지는 그렇지 못하였다. 또한 자기효능감의 각 하위요인은 모두 한국어 능력에 긍정적인 영향력을 미쳤다. 다음으로 자기효능감을 매개변수로 투입했을 때, 자신감은 관심유지와 한국어 능력 사이를 매개하였고, 자기조절효능감및 과제난이도선호는 노력지속과 한국어 능력 사이를 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 태국인 한국어 학습자의 그릿과 자기효능감을구성하는 하위요인을 확인하고, 각 요인이 한국어 능력에 미치는 복합 적인 영향력을 살펴보았다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

Abstract

Journal of the International Network for Korean Language and Culture 18-3, 175-207. The purpose of this study is to examine factors, such as grit and self-efficacy among Thai students learning Korean as a foreign language. In addition, the study will explore the complex correlation between these concepts’ subfactors and the students’ proficiency in Korean. To address the goal, a survey and statistical analysis were carried out with 295 learners studying Korean in Thai middle schools, high schools and universities. The results attained were as follows: First, as subfactors consisting of Korean learners’ grit, two factors, consistency of interest and perseverance of effort, were found, and as the subfactors of self-efficacy, three factors were extracted as task difficulty preference, self regulatory efficacy, and self-confidence. Second, each of the subfactors consisting of Korean learners’ grit and self-efficacy differed by their educational background or grade. In particular, the undergraduate group exhibited a high level of grit and self-efficacy compared to the other groups. Third, various correlations were observed between the Korean language learners’ grit, self-efficacy and Korean proficiency. It was observed that, perseverance of effort, the subfactor of grit influenced the learners’ Korean proficiency significantly, whereas consistency of interest did not. It was also observed that, all three subfactors of self-efficacy had a positive influence on the Korean proficiency of the learners. When self-efficacy was inserted as a parameter, it was observed that, self-confidence mediated the correlation between consistency of interest and Korean proficiency. In addition to this, the mediating role of self-regulatory efficacy and task difficulty preference in the relation between perseverance of effort and Korean proficiency was also brought to light. This study is significant as it provides insights into the subfactors of grit and self-efficacy of Korean language learners in Thailand and examines the complex correlation between each of these factors and the learners’ proficiency.(Busan University Of Foreign Studies)
