투렛장애 자녀를 둔 어머니가 경험하는 자녀의 양육 및 교육적 어려움과 그에 따른 지원요구

초록

본 연구는 투렛장애 자녀를 둔 어머니가 자녀를 키우면서 경험하는 양육 및 교육적 어려움을 살펴보고 이에 대해 어떠한 지원이 필요한지 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구참여자는 총 8명의 투렛장애 자녀를 둔 어머니로, 이들의 자녀는 초등학생부터 고등학생까지 다양하였다. 연구 방법은 연구참여자와 비대면 심층면담을 진행하였고, 질적 연구 방법을 사용하였으며 전사된 내용은 코드화한 뒤 분류화 하였다. 연구 결과, 투렛장애 자녀를 둔 어머니는 자녀의 까다로움과 다양해지는 틱 증상, 동반질환에 대한 심각성을 알게 되면서 자녀의 투렛장애와 맞닥뜨리게 되고 학교에서의 어려움과 돌봄의 부담, 투렛장애 공개의 예민함으로 인한 불안과 무력감을 경험하게 된다. 그리고 이를 어떻게든 견뎌내는 과정을 통해 나름대로 길을 찾으며, 다음 세대를 위한 자녀의 양육 및 교육에 필요한 지원을 요구하였다. 이에 총 4가지의 대주제와 13개의 하위주제가 도출되었다.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the caregiving and educational difficulties experienced by mothers raising children with Tourette syndrome and explore the support needed. The participants consisted of 8 mothers of children with Tourette syndrome, ranging from elementary to high school students. The research employed qualitative methods, conducting remote in-depth interviews with the participants, transcribing the content, coding, and categorizing it. The results revealed that mothers of children with Tourette syndrome experience challenges such as the complexity of their children's symptoms, increasing tic severity, and comorbid conditions. They also face difficulties in school, caregiving burdens, anxiety, and a sense of helplessness due to the sensitivity surrounding Tourette syndrome disclosure. Despite these challenges, they navigate through them to find their own paths and demand support for the caregiving and education of their children for the next generation. As a result, four major themes and thirteen sub- themes were identified.
