Abstract
This study examined the latent profiles of university students’ feedback literacy and analyzed the differences in learning outcomes according to feedback types. Using latent profile analysis, students were categorized into three groups (low, medium, high) based on multidimensional feedback literacy traits, including feed-up, feedback, feedforward, cognitive, emotional, and regulatory aspects. A total of 51 pre-service teachers from a national university in Korea participated in a 15-week course where they received either formative or corrective feedback. The results showed that in the formative feedback condition, the high feedback literacy group achieved the highest academic performance, while the medium group reported the highest class satisfaction. In the corrective feedback condition, only the high group showed significantly better performance. These findings suggest that the effectiveness of feedback depends on students’ literacy levels and emphasize the importance of tailored feedback strategies. Moreover, feedback literacy is closely connected to character competencies such as self-reflection, openness to others, and self-regulation. Therefore, fostering feedback literacy should be integrated into character education efforts in higher education to support both academic success and holistic student development.
