죄인이 그리스도를 믿음으로 의롭다 함 받는다는 교리는 복음적 교회의 서고 넘어짐을 결정한다. 그럼에도 불구하고 죄인에게 전가되는 그리스도의 의(義)의 원인인 그리스도의 순종의 정확한 성격과 범위에 대해서는 이견이 역사적으로 없지 않았고, 오늘날에도 국내외 교회에서 논쟁이 적지 않다. 이런 상황에서 본 논문은 능동적 순종 교리의 신학적이고 성경적인 타당성을 고찰해보았다. 이를 위해서 먼저, 그리스도의 수동적 순종과 능동적 순종을 정의하고 그리스도의 능동적 순종 교리의 쟁점을 드러내었다. 둘째, 그리스도의 능동적 순종과 관련 있는 장 칼뱅의 이해와 웨스트민스터 표준문서의 진술과 회의를 살펴봄으로써 능동적 순종 교리가 개혁교회의 전통적인 가르침인지 검토했다. 끝으로, 그리스도의 능동적순종 교리가 성경적으로 뒷받침되는지 살펴보았다. 그 결과 그리스도의 능동적 순종을 포함하는 그리스도의 전체 순종이 칭의의 근거가 된다는 가르침이 성경적이고 개혁주의적인 교리로 타당하다는 것을 확인하였다.
Abstract
The doctrine that sinners are justified by faith in Christ alone has determined whether for evangelical churches to live or die. Nevertheless, there has historically been disagreement regarding the precise nature and scope of Christ’s obedience, which is the basis for the righteousness imputed to sinners. Even today, this topic remains a subject of debate in churches. In light of this situation, this paper examines the theological and biblical validity of the doctrine of Christ’s active obedience. First of all, I defined passive obedience and active obedience of Christ and highlighted the key issue of the doctrine of Christ’s active obedience. Secondly, I examined John Calvin’s understanding and the statements and deliberations of the Westminster Standards to determine whether the doctrine of active obedience is the traditional teachings of the Reformed Church. Finally, I explored whether the doctrine of Christ’s active obedience is supported by holy scripture. As a result, It was confirmed that the teaching that Christ’s entire obedience, including His active obedience serves as the basis for justification of sinner is both scriptural and valid within Reformed theology.
