『삼국사기』 원전 연구와 고구려사 문헌연구 방법론

고구려본기 기사를 전거 자료의 출전 계통 국가를 기준으로 살펴보면 첫째, 중국 사서(史書)를 전거로 하는 기사, 둘째, 백제·신라 측 전승 자료에 전거를 둔공유 기사, 셋째, 고구려 독자의 전승 자료에 의거한 기사로 나누어볼 수 있다. 그러면 이와같이 세 유형의 기사의 원전을 이해하는 연구방법을 주요 사례를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 첫째,『삼국사기』 고구려본기와 백제본기에서 전하는 공유기사의 원전 계통을 분석하기 위해 369~395년 기간에 양국 관계를 전해주는 총 13건의 공유기사를 검토한 결과 공유기사 상당수가 백제 측 원전 자료에 의거하여 편찬되었다고 볼 수 있다. 둘째, 고구려 독자의 전승 자료에 입각한 본기 편찬의 저본 자료를 탐색하는방법론으로서 고구려본기 기사와 잡지, 열전의 기사를 비교하는 방법을 시도하였다. 그중 『삼국사기』 지리지 고구려조에 실려 있는 고구려 천도기사 및 고구려본기의 천도 기사를 비교하여 고구려본기의 저본 자료를 추적한 결과 고구려본기 및 지리지 편찬에 최소한 4종 혹은 5종의 저본 자료가 활용되었음을 확인할 수 있다. 그리고 고구려 전기에 고구려본기에서 도읍지로 등장하는 지명, 즉 평양성, 환도성, 국내성 기사는 자료 계통성에 대한 이해가 필수적인 전제임을해명하였다. 마지막으로 중국 측 사서에서 인용한 기사를 검토한 결과 『삼국사기』 편찬이전 모종의 사서를 편찬할 때 『한서』, 『후한서』의 기사를 저본 자료로 채택하여 편찬된 사서였다. 이 글에서는 여러 사례를 통해서 이를 확인하였다. 그리고고구려시대에 중국 사서의 기사를 인용한 대표적인 사례는 태조왕~산상왕 5대왕의 『후한서』와 『삼국지』에 보이는 諱 기사이다. 필자는 신집을 편찬할 때 『후한서』와 『삼국지』에 보이는 고구려 왕계를 국내 전승 왕계와 대응시키려는 시도가 있었다고 추정하였다. 그리고 그 대응의 기준은 신대왕으로 상정하였다. 결과적으로 휘의 대응에서 사건의 내용이 불일치하게 된 것은 백고(伯固)와 백구(白句)를 기준으로 하여 중국 사서에 전해지는 5왕의 휘를 국내 전승 왕계에기계적으로 대응시켰기 때문으로 이해하였다.
Abstract
We’ve broken down the genealogy of the Goguryeo articles by country of origin. First, an article based on an article from a Chinese history book, Second, an article based on the Baekje-Bongi(百濟本紀) and Silla- Bongi(新羅本紀), third, Article based on Goguryeo’s own writings. First, we analyzed which of the common articles in Goguryeobongi( 高句麗本紀) and Baekje-bongi is the original source. A total of 13 common articles were analyzed that conveyed the relationship between the two countries during the period of 369 to 395. The results of the analysis confirm that most of the common articles are from Baekje-Bongi. Second, for articles from the Goguryeo period, we compared Goguryeo-bongi articles, Zhi articles, and Youl-jun articles. As an example, we compared the Goguryeo-bongi’s Chundo article with the Geography-Zhi(地理志)’s Chundo article in the Geography-Zhi. The results show that at least four or five source materials were utilized in the compilation of Goguryeo-bongi and Geography-Zhi. Third, by reviewing the articles cited in the Chinese history books, the history books compiled by citing the articles Han history books (『漢書』) and Later Han history books (『後漢書』) were used as the basic materials for compiling Goguryeo-bongi. A example of a Chinese librarian’s article from the Goguryeo period is names of the five kings from King Taejo(太祖王) to King Sansang(山上王) that is taken from Later Han history books (『後漢書』) and Three Kingdoms history books (『三國志』).
