본 연구는 초심수퍼바이저의 상담 수퍼비전 경험을 통한 역할 전환 과정에서 어려움을 심층적으로 탐구하여 실제 이론을 개발하기 위하여 수행되었다. 이를 위하여 수퍼비전 경험이 있는 초심수퍼바이저 10명에게 심층면담을 실시하여 자료를 수집하였고, Strauss와 Corbin(1998/2003)가 제시한 근거이론 연구방법으로 분석하였다. 분석결과, 126개의 개념, 32개의 하위범주, 12개 범주가 도출되었고, 중심현상은 ‘수퍼바이저 역할 전환의 충격을 경험함’으로 나타났다. 본 과정의 흐름에 따른 국면을 살펴보면, 초심수퍼바이저들은 고민․숙고, 도전․노력, 전문성 확립의 3국면을 거쳐 순환․환류하며 역할 전환의 과정을 경험해 나아가고 있었고 ‘수퍼바이저로서 계속되는 도전’, ‘전문가로서 유능감을 생성함’, ‘수퍼바이저로서 성장을 경험함’을 확인할 수 있었다. 핵심범주는 ‘숙련상담자가 되었지만 초심수퍼바이저로서 다시 시작이라는 부딪침을 내딛고 전문성 확립하기’로 도출되었다. 이를 토대로 초심수퍼바이저의 역할 전환 과정에 대한 시사점과 후속 연구를 위한 제언을 논의하였다.
Abstract
This study was conducted to investigate beginning supervisors’ difficulties in depth in a role reversal process through their counseling supervision experiences and develop a practical theory. For these purposes, the study conducted in-depth interviews with ten beginning supervisors with supervision experiences, and the collected data were analyzed by the Grounded Theory methodology of Strauss and Corbin(1998/2003). The analysis results identified 126 concepts, 32 subcategories, and 12 categories, and the central phenomenon was “experiencing the shock of reversing the supervisor role”. The study examined aspects according to the flow of this process and found that beginning supervisors experienced a role reversal process through circulation and reflux via the three aspects of contemplation & deliberation, challenge & effort, and establishment of professionalism, thus moving forward. They had “continuous challenges as a supervisor,” “developed competence as a professional,” and “experienced growth as a supervisor.” The core category was “overcoming the difficulties of restarting as a beginning supervisor after becoming an experienced counselor and establishing professionalism.” Based on these findings, the study discussed its implications for the role reversal process of beginning supervisors and proposals for a follow-up study.
