Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of meaningful work in the development of organizational commitment. Job crafting, pride, and harmonious passion were used as antecedents of meaningful work which was connected to organizational commitment. Even though there have been many studies examining the direct impact of those variables on organizational commitment, less attention was given to the role of meaningful work as a mediating variable among the variables. Thus, finding indirect effect of antecedents on organizational commitment through meaningful work was one of main focuses of this study. Results of the study showed following conclusions: First, meaningful work had significant influences on organizational commitment. Second, harmonious passion had significant influences on the meaningful work. Third, harmonious passion had significant influences on the development of organizational commitment through meaningful work. Fourth, pride had significant influences on the meaningful work. Third, pride had significant influences on the development of organizational commitment through meaningful work. In depth discussions on results of the study and future research direction were provided through discussion section.
