Abstract
This study is an exploratory study of employee-grit meaning in the workplace and what are the component of employee-grit. For the purpose of this research, eight employees depth-interview were conducted. According to the comprehensive analysis procedure of qualitative data, open coding was carried out and constant comparison method was used. As a result of the study, first, the research participants generally recognized that employee need grit. It turns out that grit is a necessary concept to achieve goal related organizational vision, individual's career development or positional desire and is emphasized by many organizations though the terminology used is different. Employee-grit is necessary for individuals who have goals that go beyond doing their job. And employee-grit turned out to be more demanding when employees have to solve problems, are placed in an unclear situation, and have a high degree of difficulty. Second, the components of the employee-grit were derived as consistency of interest, perseverance of effort, deep inquiry, pursuit of small success, resolution of obstacle factors, and positive attitude. Based on these research results, further research about detailed exploration of the employee-grit goal and the development of employee-grit measurement were presented as suggestions.
