철학실천으로서의 철학상담의 역사는 비교적 짧다. 그만큼 철학상담의 이론과방법의 정립은 오늘날 철학상담이 철학의 한 분야로 자리 잡기 위해 거쳐야할시급한 과제이다. 아헨바흐, 린셋, 라베는 해석학이 철학상담에 유효한 방법론이될 수 있음을 주장한다. 철학상담에서 해석학의 방법론적 적용의 근거는 무엇보다 첫째, 철학상담의 대화가 이해에 바탕하고 있다는 것, 둘째, 대화 자체가 내담자의 삶이라는 텍스트를 문제 삼는다는 것, 셋째, 이 텍스트의 이해가 궁극적으로 해석학적 지평에서 수행되어야할 해석의 과제라는 사실에 있다. 철학상담에서 해석학의 적용에의 핵심은 내담자가 자신의 삶을 언어적으로 발화시킨 텍스트를 삶의 전체 맥락 안에서 의미 충만한 사건으로 해석하는 일이다. 내담자의 삶의 텍스트는 해석학적으로 부분이 아닌 전체 맥락 안에서만 올바로 이해될수 있으며, 이때 텍스트 해석은 과거와 현재 그리고 상담자와 내담자의 상이한이해 지평의 만남을 의미한다. 삶의 전체 맥락 안에서 내담자가 자기 자신을 이해함으로써 자기가 안고 있는 문제를 해결해 나가는 철학상담의 특징을 십분 고려한다면 이해 자체에 대한 해석학적 통찰 없이 철학상담을 수행하고, 거기로부터 내담자의 진정한 치유를 바라는 일은 사실상 불가능한 일일 것이다.
Abstract
The history of philosophical counseling as philosophical practice is relatively short. So it is a pressing task for present-day philosophical counseling to establish itself as a valid field of philosophy by specifying its theory and methodology. G. Achenbach, A. Lindseth, and P. B. Raabe all claim that hermeneutics can serve as an effective methodology. The background for the possible methodological application of hermeneutics in philosophical practice is three-fold: Firstly, the conversation of philosophical counseling is based on understanding. Secondly, the focus of the conversation between counselor and client is the client’s life text. Thirdly, the understanding of the client’s life text is the task of interpretation; so it must ultimately be accomplished within hermeneutic horizons. The core activity of the application of hermeneutics in philosophical counseling consists in clients working in conversation with the counselor to achieve a linguistically ignited text of their lives as a meaningful event. This can be achieved as a properly understood, living text only within the context of one’s whole life, not as a discrete hermeneutical entity. The interpretation of the client’s text grows out of the meeting of the different horizons of understanding of the counselor and client, but it is based on the meeting of the client’s own past and present. When the client seeks to solve problems through philosophical counseling, it is essential that he or she does so in the context of hermeneutic insight into his or her whole life. Otherwise, it is impossible to achieve true healing
