이 글은 이야기를 중심에 두고 인간과 그 삶의 의미를 논하는 리쾨르의 이야기론을 그의 이데올로기와 유토피아에 대한 논의와 만나게 하려는 시도다. 이야기속에서 상호 귀속되는 역사와 허구는 사회적 상상이라는 하나의 프레임 속에서 이데올로기와 유토피아를 다루는 리쾨르의 논의와 연결시킬 수 있을 것이다. 또한이데올로기와 유토피아는 삼중의 미메시스에서 작용하는 상상력이 표현되는 두 방식과 유사하다. 논의를 위해 사회적 상상의 두 표현으로서 이데올로기와 유토피아가 지닌 이야기적 특성에 초점을 맞춘다. 이 글에서는 정치적이거나 사회적인 주제로 여겨지는이데올로기와 문학이나 역사적 주제로 언급되는 유토피아를 이야기의 두 양식으로설정하려 한다. 단적으로 말하자면 사회적 상상에 있어 이데올로기와 유토피아는정체성의 공고화와 미래를 향한 기투로 기능한다. 이 둘은 집단 정체성과 혁신/변혁적 실천을 이끄는 구성적인 사회적 이야기들의 두 양식인 것이다. 리쾨르는 이데올로기와 유토피아에 대한 사유를 통해 『시간과 이야기』의 문제를개인의 정체성은 물론이고 집단의 정체성의 문제로, 그리고 이야기의 기술적인 기능을 넘어서 처방적이고 또 해방적인 기능을 탐색하는 데로 나아가는 여정에 들어섰던 것이라 말할 수 있겠다.
Abstract
This paper is an attempt to link Time and Narrative of P. Ricoeur discussing the meaning of human life and identity to the opinion of his ‘ideology and utopia’. Ricoeur says that ‘ideology and utopia’ are two expressions of social imaginary. It is similar to two ways of imagination in terms of Mimesis1-2-3. History and fiction belong to narratives each other. It can match to his opinions dealing with ideology and utopia in a framework of social imaginary. For my paper, I would like to consider ideology and utopia as two modes of narratives. In brief, ideology and utopia are social constitutive narratives for steering collective identity and innovative action. Ricoeur says that we can overcome negative functions of ideology and utopia if only we treat ideology and utopia with together. In this contention, we can conjecture that he proceeded to ethical and political thought of his late works(Oneself as Another, Memory, History, Forgetting etc.)
