초록
At present, there is no unified punctuation rule of Korean classical literatures. Also, some people prefer to use 'Korean punctuation rule' to 'Chinese punctuation rule'. Then, is the difference between Chinese classical writings and Korean ones such great that a different punctuation rule to be applied to each of them? Why is it difficult to apply the same punctuation rule to them? The demand for the 'Korean punctuation rule' seems to be caused by two reasons. First, there is a difference between Korean Hyeonto rule and Chinese punctuation rule, and second, punctuation marks not used in Korea are used. Accordingly, this paper aims to describe the usage and utility of Chinese punctuation marks and next to discuss about the difference between Chinese punctuation rule and Korean Hyeonto rule. The present day when people all over the world are closely connected, the proper arrangement of Korean classics is not only for domestic researchers. Korean classics have to be uniformly arranged so that any man who can decipher Classical Chinese, the common written language of ancient East Asia, may be able to access them. Accordingly, before discussing about 'Korean punctuation rule', it would be necessary to exactly understand 'Chinese punctuation rule'.
