Abstract
The study was designed to demonstrate the effect of Korean dance program on the female aged with diabetes by applying a 12-weeks Korean dance program and comparing the changes in body composition, health-related physical fitness and constituent parts of the blood. With an experimental group, the Korean dance program has been regularly executed twice a week and 60 minutes per time for 12 weeks while the data have been analyzed and represented with the mean and standard deviation by using SPSS/PC 15.0 stats program. As for effects on body composition, there was no significant difference in body weight, body fat percentage, waist-hip ratio (WHR), body mass index (BMI) and basal metabolic rate (BMR) (p>.05). Body flexibility was show significant difference before and after in experiment and control groups(p<.05). But there was no significant difference in muscle endurance, explosive Strength (p>.05). As changes in blood components, significant difference was found with time in Glucose of the control group(p<.05), and was found also in GOT, GPT, HbAlc, HDL-C of the experimental and control groups(p<.05). In sum, a large effect was not given, but is judged to the things that caused a positive influence to blood components about diabetes. It is expected that considering that the groups consist of the aged, a regular and long-term Korean dance program regulating the intensity of exercise would have a positive effect on the healthy life of the female aged.
