본 연구는 수출과 해외직접투자간의 영향관계를 규명함으로서 이 연구주제에 대한 학술적 논의뿐만 아니라 정책적 시사점도 제공함을 목적으로 하고 있다. 연구에서 제시하고자 하는 논의는 세 가지로 나눌 수 있다; (1) 수출의 증가 혹은 감소가 FDI에 영향을 미치는가?, (2) FDI가 수출에 어떤 영향을 미치는가?, (3) 중소기업과 대기업의 경우 수출과 FDI의 연관성이 다르게 나타나는가? 연구분석 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 첫째, FDI와 수출변수 모두에서 공적분관계가 검출되었다. 둘째, 인과관계 분석에서는 몇몇 산업을 제외하고는 뚜렷한 관계가 발견되지 않았다. 즉, 수출에서 FDI로의 인과관계는 두 개의 산업(석유화학, 일차금속)에서만 발견되었으며, FDI에서 수출로의 인과관계 또한 두 개의 산업(섬유의복, 조립금속)에서만 발견되었다. 셋째, 벡터오차수정모형을 통한 검증결과 수출과 FDI는 상호간에 부(-)의 영향을 주는 관계를 갖는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 한편 제조업을 대기업과 중소기업으로 구분하여 수출과 FDI 간의 영향을 분석해 본 결과 대기업의 경우에는 조립금속 산업에서 FDI가 수출에 정(+)의 유의한 영향을 미치고, 중소기업의 경우는 1차 금속산업에서만 FDI가 수출에 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
This study aims for providing not only an academic argument on the issue by analyzing the relationship between export and FDI, but a policy implication as well. The study categorized the topic into three questions; (1) Does the increase or decrease in export have influence on FDI? (2) How does FDI affect export? (3) Does SMEs differ from large corporations in the correlation between export and FDI?Three conclusions were derived by the analysis; First, cointegrations were found in both FDI and export variables. Second, there was no evident relationship found in the causality test except a few industries. That is, causalities from export to FDI were found in only two industries (petroleum products & chemicals, basic metals), and those from FDI to export were also found in only two industries (textiles & clothing, fabricated metals). Third, there was a negative relationship found between export and FDI by applying a vector error correction model. In the analysis of the relationship between export and FDI in manufacturing industry with large corporations and SMEs divided, FDI affected export positively in fabricated metals industry for large corporations while FDI affected export negatively in basic metals industry for SMEs.
