한국의 해외직접투자가 수출입에 미치는 영향

본 논문에서는 1992년부터 2008년까지 56개 소분류 제조업 부문의 한국해외직접투자가 수출,수입 및 교역에 미치는 효과를 분석하였다.선행연구에서 주로 이용되었던 고정효과모형에서는 동태패널편의(dynamic panel bias)가 존재하므로 수출입이 해외직접투자에 영향을 미칠 경우 발생하게 되는 내생성 문제가 남아있게 된다.이를 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 시스템GMM을 이용하여 내생성 문제를 고려하였다. 분석결과 한국의 해외직접투자는 수출과 수입을 촉진시켜 교역을 증대시키는 것으로 분석되었으며 이러한 결과는 최근 한국기업들의 해외직접투자를 통한 국제생산분업구조의 증가추세를 반영하는 것으로 해석된다.
Abstract
This paper examines the impact of outward foreign direct investment (ODI) by Korean multinationals on trade. Using Korean industry-level manufacturing data from 1992 to 2008 and controlling for potential endogeneity by system GMM, we find that Korean ODI has positive impact on export, import and overall trade. The complementary relationship between ODI and trade reflects increasing trend of global production network and intra-firm trade.
