한국의 대브라질 해외직접투자와 수출의 관계

본 연구에서는 한국의 대브라질 해외직접투자와 수출의 관계를 분석했다. 특히, 한국의 대브라질 해외직접투자와 수출의 관계 변화가 수출에 미친 영항에 대해 집중적으로 분석했다. 이를 위해 한국의 대브라질 해외직접투자 현황과 특징 그리고 해외직접투자와 수출의 관계, 브라질 현지법인의 경영성과와수출의 관계 그리고 해외직접투자의 수출유발효과에 대해 종합적으로 분석했다. 분석결과, 한국의 대브라질 해외직접투자는 성숙기 단계에 처해 있고, 업종별로는 제조업, 설립형태는 신규법인 설립, 투자형태는 단독투자, 투자자 유형은 대기업 비중이 크다는 특징을 보이고 있다. 한국의 대브라질 해외직접투자와 수출은 정(+)의 상관관계를 보이고 있으나, 해외직접투자와 수출의 관계가지속적으로 약화되고 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 아울러 최근 한국의 대브라질 수출 감소의 상당 부분이 기업내 무역 감소에 기인하며, 대브라질 해외직접투자의 수출유발효과가 낮아지고 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between Korea’s FDI in Brazil and its exports to Brazil. In particular, this study analyzes the impact of changes in this relationship on Korea’s exports to Brazil. To this end, it examines the current status and characteristics of Korea’s FDI in Brazil, the relationship between FDI and exports, the relationship between the business performance of Korea's overseas affiliates and exports, and the export-promoting effect of FDI. This study shows that Korea's FDI in Brazil is in the maturity stage of the life cycle, and it is characterized by a large proportion of manufacturing industry and the establishment of a new wholly owned subsidiary by large conglomerates. This study also finds that Korea's FDI in Brazil and its exports to Brazil have a positive correlation, but the relationship has been steadily weakening. This study indicates that a precipitous decline in Korea’s exports to Brazil is partly due to a drop in intra-firm trade and the export-promoting effect of FDI in Brazil has been reduced.
