Abstract
It is needed to establish social perception of family friendly business to achieve the balance between work and family life and to minimize social problems that may arise from low birth rates and aging. To do this, it is required to provide empirical evidence that family friendly business firms is improving their productivity. Therefore, this paper examine the effect of Family-Friendly Certification System(FFS) on Firms’ Productivity. For analysis, we collected the data from FFS Certified firms and estimated the productivity of the firms. And then, we observed the deviation in the productivity between pre- and post-certification. The methodologies used in this paper are Chamberlain model and Panel random effect model. The results reported that FFS did not have a statistically significant effect on firms’ productivity. Additionally, we performed the nonparametric estimations that assumes no functional relationship between dependent and independent variables. The result shows that FFS policy has a positive effect on firms’ productivity. Specifically, in terms of productivity growth, FFS Certified firms are 0.22~1.95% more productive than those does not.
