Abstract
This study aims to identify topics that would enable learners at different stages of their life cycle to achieve their goals and solve problems in decision-making situations effectively they face in their economic life. Five life-cycle groups and the project–based learning are assumed as teaching targets and methods, respectively. A literature review, focus group interview (FGI), Delphi survey, and analytic hierarchy process (AHP) were adopted as the research methodology. To identify educational needs, an FGI was conducted with eight experts. Based on its results, a Delphi survey of 20 experts was conducted thrice, and AHP analyzed the summarized contents. This study was intended for a follow-up study presenting a learning program through developing a program prototype, conducting feasibility, and pilot training. Identified economic education topics by this study, along with the importance and priority of each item based on primary and secondary criteria, are as follows; in childhood, income versus expenditure, consumption planning, and implementation experience; in adolescence, rational consumption and refraining from irrational purchases; in youth, savings and asset management, and stabilization of self-directed economic life; in middle age, savings and asset management, and adjustment of consumption expenditure approaching to the retirement; and in elderly, retirement preparation and utilization of welfare system.
