본 논문은 藏書閣의 고전적 수집 과정에서 입수한 『通經』의 발견과 그 학술적 가치를 보고하는 것이다. 보고는 두 측면에서 진행될 것이다. 첫 번째 측면은 『통경』의저술 시기, 체재, 구성 및 그 근거이다. 『통경』은 저작자와 저작 시기에 대한 표지가 부재한 채로 있다. 이에 대한 견해를 제시하려고 한다. 또한 『통경』의 저자존 『 四書三經』의 체제를 따르지 않고, 十三經 전체를 새로운 방식으로 다루면서 독자적이고 새로운 형식을 부여하고 있다. 형식의 실제 내용과 그 근거를 이루는 철학적논의를 살펴본다. 두 번째 측면은 『통경』의 학술적 의의를 찾아보고자 한다. 조선의 역사에서 십삼경전체를 다룬 연구는 거의 찾아볼 수 없는 유일한 것으로 생각되기에 그 경학사적 의의가 어떤 것인지를 생각해보며, 『통경』과心學의 관련성에 관한 단서를 살펴본다. 또한 『통경』이라는 유교문명의 새로운 바이블이 최한기 당대에 던져 주는 의미와 더불어 21세기 현재적 의미를 짚어본다.
Abstract
This article aims to report on the discovery of Tonggyeong during Jangseogak Archives’ efforts to collect classical documents and to explore its scholarly significance. The report is divided into two main parts. The first part examines the timing, format, organization, and rationale behind the writing of Tonggyeong, which is missing its title page, leaving the authorship and date unclear. I will offer insights on these aspects. Notably, Tonggyeong departs from the traditional structure of the Four Books and Three Classics, as Choe Han-gi, the author, presents the entire body of the Thirteen Confucian Classics in a unique format. This section will explore the details of this format and the philosophical ideas that underpin it. The second part delves into the scholarly significance of Tonggyeong. Believed to be the only work in Joseon history that addresses all Thirteen Classics, I will assess its historical importance and investigate its connection to the Learning of the Mind. Additionally, I will consider the potential of Tonggyeong as a “new bible” for Confucian civilization during Choe Han-gi’s era, as well as its relevance in the 21st century
