Abstract

The purpose of this study is to target on dance major students in university and explore the structural characteristics of untact learning that the students experienced through their experiences of online dance practice class. There are 5 research participants and they are students with mixed grade levels and gender. The research method was a qualitative study method and Giorgi's phenomenological analysis was applied. The upper categories identified in this study are as follows. First, in case of the absence of interaction in movements between bodies, there was discomfort from the interaction between the learner and the instructor and there were many suggestions that more practical class measures are needed. Second, online practice class was less effective compared to face-to-face class. Two-way interaction was not amicable and it was not as effective as face-to-face class in terms of conditions like spatiality, creativity, and imitative movements but learners had high satisfaction based on the psychological burden granted by autonomy, time limits, and anonymity. Third, for research participants that experienced online practice class, it was pointed out that the problems of online practice class include the absence of two-way interaction and also that the class was conducted with videos and assignments without a narrow space and platform. Moreover, the research targets testified that they cannot properly learn the most important aspect of practice class, which are body movements. It is anticipated for this study to establish an optimized online dance education system and provide it to the learners.
