Abstract

In this study, the text, illustration, arrangement, and content areas of the front cover of elementary science certified textbooks by publishers according to the 2015 revised curriculum were analyzed, and the preferences of elementary school students and elementary school teachers were compared and analyzed. As a result of the survey on the preference of textbook covers by publishers, it was found that there was a difference in preference between elementary school students and elementary school teachers. In the case of fonts, students preferred symbolic style and teachers preferred graphic one. As for the position of the text, the position of the upper left for the student and the upper center for the teacher was most preferred. In addition, teachers responded that the more content elements on the front cover than students, the more interesting they feel. In the case of the post-processing effect applied to the illustration, it was found that the hologram gourd effect was the most interesting for students and the lenticular effect for teachers.
