초록
This paper is a study on Dostoevsky’s “The Insulted and The Injured”(1861) as the first ‘novel’ of Post-Siberian period. Two main stories, being however appropriate for a novella, are not so organically connected to each other. First(Second paragraph), ‘Nelly Narrative’ is analyzed as a ‘Peterburgskij byt’. It’s full of the allusions from the European novels and shows author’s obsession with sentimentalism and romanticism. Second(Third paragraph), as for ‘Natasha Narrative’ - a typical ‘love story’ - the point is that ’dream of living by the three’ based on Utopian socialism turned out to be a nightmare. In characters’ psychological mechanism plays a key role so called ‘Egoizm stradanija’. Third problem is related to Dostoevsky’s biographical detail. In conclusion, we examine middle-aged writer’s melancholy and ambition to create his own ‘Petersburg Narrative’ through his persona(writer Banya).
