마르크스는 1857년의 공황이 노동자계급의 정치적 각성을 촉구하리라 기대해 『그룬트리쎄』에서 대체로 처음부터 끝까지 공황의 원인과 형태를 연구했지만, 이 연구 과정에서 자본주의적 생산양식을 파악하는 거대한 이론적 돌파구를 열었기 때문에, 공황 연구보다는 오히려 자본주의적 축적의 모순적인 성격을 공격하는 데 몰두했다. 『그룬트리쎄』에서 공황은 불비례설, 과소소비설, 이윤율 저하설 등에 의해 설명되고 있지만, 자본의 가치증식이 생산의 목적이라는 인식에 의거해 이윤율 저하설적 공황론을 더욱 강조하고 있다고 볼 수 있다.
Abstract
Marx, anticipating the revolutionary movement of the working class in the face of the 1857 economic crisis, wrote a lot about economic crises in Grundrisse. In the course of studying economic crises Marx achieved so enormous theoretical breakthroughs in illuminating the contradictory tendencies of the capitalist accumulation that he diverted his attention from completing his own crisis theory to attacking the foundation of the capitalist mode of production. Grundrisse explains economic crises by means of disproportionality theory, underconsumption theory and falling rate of profit theory. However, Marx adhered to the falling rate of profit theory of economic crises.
