사람의 다양한 일상과 감정을 자세하게 살펴볼 수 있는 것 중의 하나가 일기이다. 특히 18세기 사대부의 일상을 살펴볼 수 있는 일기자료로 『역중일기(曆中日記)』가 있다. 백불암 최흥원이 약 60년 동안 자신의 일상을 기록한 『역중일기(曆中日記)』는 사대부의 일상과 그 일상 속에서 느끼는 감정과 정서를 확인할 수 있다는 점에서 중요한 자료이다. 특히 『역중일기(曆中日記)』는 다양한 가족관계가 나타난다는 특징을 지닌다. 백불암 최흥원은 딸과 아들에게 훌륭한 아버지로서의 모습을 보여준다. 사대부로서의 모습, 아버지로서의 모습 사이에서 갈등하고 고민하는 것을 통해, 두 가지 역할에서 무엇을 선택하는지를 잘 보여주고 있다. 그리고 어머니와 외가를 동일하게 인식함으로써 외가와 정서적 친밀감을 두드러지게 보여주고 있으며, 기록에 잘 등장하지 않는 여성 친척들, 여성 종에 대한 기록도 다양하게 나타난다. 또 사대부이지만 지켜야 하는 의례를 상황에 맞게 변례(變禮)를 하는 모습에서 강인한 실천 의지를 찾아볼 수 있다. 이처럼 『역중일기(曆中日記)』에 나타나는 일상들은 모두 가족으로 엮어져 있다는 특징을 지니며, 사대부의 가족 관계성을 이해할 수 있다는 점에서 의미를 지닐 수 있다. 이러한 점에서 『역중일기(曆中日記)』에 나타나는 사대부의 일상은 사대부라는 사회적 지위에서 벗어나 한 인간적 측면에서 다양하게 이해되어야 할 것이다. 백불암 최흥원이 지역 또는 사회 공동체로 확대하여 인식하게 되는 밑바탕에는 바로 가족에 대한 인식이 먼저 형성되었기 때문이다. 가족으로 비롯된 인간에 대한 이해와 정서적 공감과 감성을 통한 관계 형성을 기반으로 백불암 최흥원은 공동체로 나아가서도 공감과 소통이 가능하게 되는 것이다. 따라서 『역중일기(曆中日記)』는 어느 한 사대부의 공감과 감성을 엿볼 수 있는 기록이면서 이를 통해 사대부의 인간적인 면모에 주목하면서 다양한 측면에서 이해할 수 있도록 한다.
Abstract
One of the things that allows you to take a closer look at a person's various daily lives and emotions is a diary. In particular, there is “Yeokjungilgi” as a diary material that allows you to look at the daily lives of the nobleman in the 18th century. Yeokjungilgi, written by Choi Heung-won of Baekbulam for about 60 years, is an important material in that it is possible to confirm the daily lives of the nobleman and the emotions and emotions they feel in their daily lives. In particular, “Yeokjungilgi” is characterized by various family relationships. Baekbulam Choi Heung-won shows his daughter and son as a great father. The agony between the appearance of a nobleman and a father is evident through the appearance of having to endure his father's sadness as a nobleman. By recognizing the mother and mother's mother's family in the same way, it shows the emotional intimacy with the mother. In addition, a strong will to practice can be found in making a ritual (變禮) that is a nobleman but must be observed in response to the situation of private benefits. As such, all the daily lives in “Yeokjungilgi” are characterized by being woven into a family, and can be meaningful in that it can understand the family relationship of the noblemen. In this respect, the daily life of the noblemen in “Yeokjungilgi” should be understood in various ways from the social status of the noblemen and from a human perspective. This is because the perception of family was formed first on the basis that Choi Heung-won of Baekbulam was recognized by expanding to a region or social community. Based on the understanding of human beings that originated from the family and the formation of relationships through emotional empathy and emotion, Choi Heung-won of Baekbulam will be able to empathize and communicate with the community. Therefore, “Yeokjungilgi” is a record that provides a glimpse of the empathy and emotion of a nobleman, and through this, it can be understood in various aspects while paying attention to the human aspect of the noblemen.
