제조업별 외국인 직접투자 결정요인 분석

초록

본 연구에서는 우리나라 외국인 직접투자(FDI)의 결정요인 분석을 위하여 9개 제조업으로 구성된 횡단면 자료(cross sectional data)와 제조업별 시계열자료(time series data)가 혼합된 패널자료(panel data)를 사용하였다. 분석 모형을 일반 Pooled model과 고정효과(fixed effect)모형, 확률효과(random effect)모형을 적용하였으며 각 분석 모형에서 다양한 가중치를(Period weights, Cross-section weights, Cross-section SUR) 적용하여 외국인직접투자결정요인을 분석하였다.분석결과 확률효과(random effect)모형의 설명력과 유의수준이 낮게 나타난 반면 일반 Pooled model과 고정효과(fixed effect)모형은 비교적 설명력과 유의수준이 높게 나타났다. 선택된 최적모형 분석결과 외국인직접투자 유입과 그 결정 요인들 간에 시차(time lag)가 1년으로 나타났다. 또한. 제조업별 광고 집약도가 높을수록 FDI가 증가하고 제조업별 영업이익 증가율과 매출액 증가율이 높을수록 FDI가 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 수출비중이 높은 산업일수록 FDI가 높게 나타난 반면 임금 증가율이 높은 산업일수록 FDI 유입은 낮은 것을 알 수 있다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the determinants of foreign direct investment(FDI) by industry for the period of 1991-2004, using the Fixed effect model and Random effect model. This paper assumes that the FDI are based on the levels of independent variables and examines the determinants by panel data.In panel unit root test using LLC, IPS etc, all the variables don't have a unit root. Next time, we used Fixed and random effect model. The time lagged models for the analysis of determinants of the FDI is explored 1-year lagged. Estimates and t-statistics for industry size, export, profitability, and advertising intensity are significantly increasing, whereas wage and R&D intensity are decreasing.
