Abstract

This study analyzed game addiction levels and their influencing factors among 982 elementary school students (grades 4–6) using KCYPS data. The results showed that self-regulation (β=–0.35) and emotional stability (β=–0.22) were the strongest psychological predictors, while family communication (β=–0.17), school life satisfaction (β=–0.14), and peer support (β=–0.12) emerged as key social protective factors. Students in the high-risk group scored significantly lower on all psychological and social variables (p<.001), indicating that children’s game addiction is shaped not only by individual factors but also by environmental influences. Based on these findings, the study suggests the need for multilayered prevention strategies, including strengthening self-regulation and enhancing emotional and social support systems.
